Rod's Return

It was great to see Rod back on the back after a 2 month hiatus and that was enough inspiration for me to fire up the blog again. It was a bit of a chilly morning so there were a few more jackets, arm warmers and long sleeve tops amongst the group. We have had some more rain in Bendigo over the past week so the dusty trails from last Sunday had been replaced by a more grippy trail and a few puddles. We have been giving the Fastaways track a fair work out in recent weeks (as a result of Steve and Tony discovering that its a lot more fun if you ride the loop in the opposite direction) so we decided to head over to One Tree Hill for a change of scenery.

We made our way there via Diamond Hill and the Burns St Track before crossing the Eppalock Rd and heading for the top of the Hill. Steve was keen to show us the South Face of One Tree Hill which most of us hadnt been on before. Its a very steep and rocky climb which would take a great effort to make in one go which none of us managed on this attempt. But it offers a great challenge and despite the tough climb we will all be going back another day to try again.

After a rest at the top we made our way down the other side and along a great down hill stretch that just keeps going before popping you out on Guys Hill Road. We did a bit more climbing before heading back through the bush to the Uni and on to Spencers for a well earned coffee.

The photo this week is of Tony modelling his new "Sweet Singletrack" jersey which he got for his birthday last week. Only one more year and Tony will join the elite competing in the "Super Masters" class.
